During her periodic travels to Central America, Verena has fallen for precious pearled bracelets hand-woven by indigenous Mayan women in Lake Atitlan in Guatemala’s Highlands. Drawing upon the master weaving techniques that have been a part of their culture for generations, these women skillfully handcraft these beautiful pieces, combining contemporary designs with ancient traditions. Very often, indigene women in Central America cover their arms and legs with these multi-coloured pearls: beyond the symbolic value of this jewellery, it is also incredibly decorative.
