Mochila Wayuu Made in Colombia

The MOCHILA WAYUU collection is part of Unique Allure’s exclusive selection of handmade items sourced from far-flung destinations.

It's in line with Unique Allure's concept and mission: to offer
one-of-a-kind accessories to fashionable women looking for individuality.

They are one-of-a-kind and handwoven by the Wayuu tribe, a group of indigenous people who live in Guajira Peninsula in northern Colombia and northwest Venezuela.

Each MOCHILA WAYUU bag is hand-made by one woman from the Wayuu tribe and each woman has her own signature. These indigenous women expresses themselves through their crafts, through the representation of geometric symbols found in the element of nature such as animals, plants and stars. The complexity and intricacy of their designs determine the value of each piece.

Each bag signifies something to its creator: i.e. ‘rays of the sun’, ‘wind’, ‘path of love’, ‘coming of age’ etc…
Furthermore each design uses eco-friendly materials.

Unique Allure Mochila Wayuu

nique Allure’s founder and designer, is a globetrotter. If she is not in Paris/Vienna (her home bases), she is traveling around the world and sourcing beautiful fabrics, vintage garments and handcrafts, be it in Latin American & Asian villages, Parisian flea markets or Italian Fabric Showrooms.

In Colombia, where she lived for a while, she discovered the beautiful handcraft of the Wayuu tribe.

When Verena was told the background story of these handcrafted treasures made by the indigenous Wayuu women, she immediately could identify herself with these talented artisans and artists, because she felt the same when she was creating her FOULARD BAGS years back.

For her too, each FOULARD BAG signified something special and was created with love&care. By transforming vintage scarves from the 50s, 60s & 70s into handbags, Verena brought the -so far - forgotten vintage scarf into a new life: suddenly their retro-designs where appealing again, telling stories of their past or present history.

Verena found in the Wayuu women some ‘creative sisters’: for both, the design activity signifies a realm in which they express their creativity.

Alike Verena’s previous collections, the MOCHILA bags are unique, fashionable and colorful accessories. It’s the perfect accessory to take with you on travel this summer! It’s weightless, small & funky for hot summer nights out and expands with surprising capacity for all your beach & market needs.
